FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A cold front is moving north-east over the South Island. Forecast: Kaikoura coast, North and Central Canterbury.—Moderate variable winds in most places, although fresh and gusty south-westerlies in exposed coastal places; partly cloudy with isolated showers; moderate temperatures. South Canterbury.—Moderate variable winds; partly cloudy, cool weather. Central Marlborough and the Sounds.—Fresh westerly winds; variable cloud with a few scattered showers; cooler. Nelson.—South-westerlies strong in exposed places; showery about the western ranges, but elsewhere partly cloudy weather; cooler. Buller and Westland.—Cool south-westerlies, fresh in exposed places; vsriable cloud with a few scattered showers, mostly near the ranges.
