Rescued Six Had Warning

(N.Z. Press Association: WELLINGTON, Jan. 16. Six children were rescued from the surf at Titabi Bay today after a dangerous rip dragged them out to sea. A holiday beach Inspector, Mr J. Gilbert, said the children, between the ages of nine and 14 yean, bad not heeded “No Bathing" signa he had placed on the beach to warn of the rip. Mr Gilbert made six successive 70-yard swims. to rescue the children. A wind-change caused the rip which gouged out sand and rock to form a 50 to 60 yard-wide gully extending about 150 yards to sea.
