OVERSEAS EXCHANGES
SYDNEY After Tuesday’s downward trend, buyers moved into the market with confidence yesterday. This came after Britain's decision not to restrict British investment abroad. Australian miners opened lower in London on Tuesday but firmed at the close. B.H.P. high-lighted trading on the exchange when the shares jumped 130 c to 1685 c and later eased to close at 1665 c. In the mining section nickel stocks regained ground. Western Mining Corporation gained 280 c to 3550 c. . . Barriers were also firmer with Broken Hill South putting on 31c to 555 c. New Broken Hill rose 60c to 950 c on rumours of a take-over offer from Rio-Tinto Zinc Corporation. Sales.— B.H. Sth, 555; Cleveland Tin, 110: Com. Mining. 360: Cons.
