Race Changed To Evening

(N.Z. Press Association » AUCKLAND. Auckland athletes trying to qualify for the New Zealand Olympic Games team in the 10,000 metres event will have every opportunity when the Auckland six-mile championship is run in the evening on February 8. The race was to have been held in mid-afternoon on Saturday, February 10, but was changed at the request of athletes. E. Maguire, the national sixmile champion, W. Baillie, and the marathon specialist, J. Julian, seem the only Aucklanders capable of breaking 28 minutes for six miles this season. New Zealand six-mile and 10,000-metre runners would need to run six miles between 27min 40sec and 27min 50sec to warrant Olympic selection.
