Japanese students protesting against the scheduled visit of a United States nuclear-powered aircraft carrier fought riot police for the second day running today. : The trouble began when about 380 students demonstrating at the Hakata railway station in Kyushu, southern Japan, refused a police search for weapons. Scuffles followed and four students were taken into custody, police said. The students arrived at Kyushu from Central and 'Western Japan on their way to Sasebo, where the aircraft carrier Enterprise is due to dock on Thursday. Police yesterday arrested 142 students in Tokyo and other parts of Japan. In the capital, 10 police were injured in a clash with 200 steel-helmted students armed with sticks, stones and bricks.
