Contest For Linemen
A Christchurch Municipal Electricity Department team won the first inter-authority competition for the Electrical Lineman’s Challenge Trophy. The team, comprising Messrs J. Williamson (charge hand), E. King, F. Haines and W. Tolson, gained 769 points to lead teams from the Central Canterbury Electric Power Board and the Riccarton Borough Council. The contest involved a.poletop rescue and resuscitation, connecting a service line and running a low-voltage line under high-voltage cables.
