Spry and AUakasam hold their ground when withdrawals for the Auckland Trotting Cup fall due on December 27, the field will Include, for the first time, all four place-getters in the New Zealand Trotting Cup. The A.T.C. was thrilled with the entries for the cup and for the other feature races at the meeting, the vice-president (Mr R. Lewis) said yesterday. “It is particularly pleasing to see so many good horse* from th* South Island nominated,” be said. Aka Eden will not compete at the Auckland Trotting Cup meeting. L. J. Bayer, one of his owners and th* co-tralner with J. K .Hughes, want* to freshen him for th* Inter-Do. minion Championships at Alexandra Park In February. Aka Eden has been out of work for eight days. He will resume toward the end of next week. From five starts this season he has gained three first* and a fourth.
