TROTTING Four-year-olds In Form Today

"Tho Press" Special Sereice INVERCARGILL.

If early form predictions. prove correct, four-year-olds will dominate the opening day of the Invercargill Trotting Club’s twilight meeting at Invercargill today.

The four-year -old

group includes Emulate, Valley Girl, Glenda Hanover, Gardex, Alpha Girl, Dacron, Dixie Hanover, Killadar, Senator Frost and the trotter

Pambill, and practically all are form runAfter rain yesterday, the sting will be out of the ground. Major Bright looks certain to hold his place as favourite for the Smirnoff Free-for-all, the first leg of the T.A.B. double. He has shown that he is probably better suited to easing ground than on firm tracks. Glenda Hanover’s first four-year-old start is arousing some interest and Meadow Bank, Balmacraig, Flight Adios and Roseland Beauty will all have support in an open race.

Major Bright’s frontrunning tactics will be in his favour. At the cup carnival at Addington last month he ran two particularly good races for fourth and sixth. WELL FORWARD Glenda Hanover’s three-year-old record—she won five races and was six times placed—give* her an excellent chance.

Although she has . not appeared at trials this Season, Glenda Hanover can be relied on to be well forward. She has been in work for some time, and has made good progress. Balmacraig Is a competent front runner which will be suited by the five-furlong Invercargill track. Dacron, Senator Frost and Killadar will represent the four-year-old contingent in the second leg, the Christmas Handicap, and any of the trio is capable of winning. Senator Frost, which will be driven by K Balloch, will be expected to match his good winning form, shown at Ashburton earlier in the season. He disgraced himself at his last start at Wyndham, when he broke at the start and took little serious part. Like Senator Frost, Killadar has been a winner but he has not returned to the brilliant form he showed as a three-year-old. There was some merit in Dacron’s third over two miles at his first start for the season at Wyndham and he will be a sharply improved horse today.
