Two Admit Arson

AUCKLAND, Dec. 12.
Two men who admitted writing slogans on the walls of the Synagogue in Auckland and to lighting petrol poured on the front steps and door of the building on Sunday, pleaded guilty to arson in the Otahuhu Magistrate’s Court today. Durward Colin King-Ansell, aged 21, a barman, and Dennis Alan Jephson, aged 21, a barman, were remanded to December 19 for a probation report and sentence by Mr N. M. Izard, S.M. The Magistrate refused bail, saying that the offence was a serious one for which both were liable to substantial prison sentences.
