Importance Of Kindergartens

Kindergarten teachers played a vital part in shaping their nation because the country’s strength and purpose depended on values and attitudes which were learnt at a very early age, Dr D. C. Paul, visiting senior lecturer in education at the Christchurch Teachers’ Training College, said yesterday.

“This rather tired and battered world needs the compassion, fortitude and good common sense New Zealand can give ft. As kindergarten teachers you will be charting the course of New Zealand’s future and the excellent training you have received will enable you to fulfill this awesome responsibility,” Dr Paul

told the 29 graduates of the Christchurch Kindergarten Training College. "For New Zealand to make the contribution ft must make

to the world, ft must be a strong and purposeful nation. You,' more than any other New Zealanders, will have a direct influence on its attitudes and values.

“This may be hard to believe—you may not want to believe it—but ft is true. Be grateful for the opportunity which is uniquely yours,” said Dr Paul.
