Dogs In Cars Escape Fee

(N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, Nov. 15. No charge is to be made for dogs locked inside vehicles in the ferries Aramoana and Aranui. This has been made clear by the Acting Minister of Railways (Mr Seath). Up to now, a 95c ticket has had to be bought for a dog, although the animals are not handled in any way by railway or ship staff, and a move to have the anomaly corrected was made by the Marlborough Kennel Association. The Minister, agreeing that the charge seemed unreasonable, added that in the event of a dog being removed from a vehicle during the voyage, the 95c charge would apply.
