MARKET SLIDE CONTINUES

The equity market continued to slide back yesterday, as New Zealand stock exchanges closed trading for the week. In the New Zealand list falls outnumbered rises three to one. Trading was again active over a wide range.

The overseas list had the largest fluctuations. There were five rises and three falls, but the falls were heaviest. B.H.P. lost 10c to 1400 c in active trading. Ampol reacted to the denial of the take-over rumours with a fall of 14c to 94c.

B.N.Z. Finance recovered 3c to 118 c, and rises of 1c each were chalked up by Rothmans, U.E.B. and Winstone. Among the falls Wattie, Fletcher, Kaiapoi, Wright Stephenson, N.Z. Forest Products, South British Insurance and Dominion Breweries stood out.
