Studies From Port Hills

About 120 pupils from Tl-orrington School, Colombo Street, will make two one-day trips to the Port Hills during the next two weeks as part of a programme of team-teaching studies arranged by the school.

The headmaster (Mr R. K Trollope) said yesterday that the programme would include studies of the Port Hills, Maori folk tales and legends, geography of the hills and plains, nature science, creative writing and mathematics. From the hills the pupils would also study a selection of peaks on the Southern Alps, depending on the visibility, he said. Five teachers will lead the pupils, who will be from standards 2,3, and 4. Mr Trollope said that the first trip would be made on the first fine day next week and the second about a week later.
