‘OUTLOOK BETTER’

Mr Vines Arrives fN Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 17. Mr W. J. Vines, managing director of the International Wool Secretariat, arrived at Auckland today with an encouraging word for the farmer. “The outlook is now a lot better,” he said. “The market should gain gradually in strength as the season goes on.”

The main consuming countries except Japan had been through a difficult and trying 18 months, he said. In all cases, there were very strong signs of an improvement except in the United Kingdom where the market was still very depressed. “We are a long way from beginning to feel that there is an excess of New Zealand wool in the world,” said Mr Vines.
