QUIET IN CYPRUS

Villagers Return (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) NICOSIA, Nov. 17. Greek and Turkish Cypriots who fled from two divided villages on Wednesday when heavy fighting broke out, returned yesterday while United Nations troops stood guard. As United Nations troops searched Kophinou and Ayios Theodoros, just south of Nicosia, for booby traps and mines, the island's Council of Ministers met to discuss the incident. Fighting between the ethnic groups broke out in Ayios Theodoros, then spread to the nearby village of Kophinou. Mortars, cannon and automatic weapons were used.

Reports from Ankara said that anti-Greek demonstrations erupted in Ankara and Istanbul yesterday in the wake of the communal fighting on Cyprus that left 25 Turkish Cypriots dead. Two Greek Cypriots were also killed.
