TSHOMBE’S FATE
Extradition Staved? j (N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) CHICAGO, Nov. 4. A Chicago lawyer said today he had been notified by Algeria’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Mr Tewfi Bouratourri, that Algeria would not extradite the former Congolese Prime Minister, Mr Moise Tshombe, to the Congo. But in New York a spokesman for the Algerian Ambassador denied that Mr Bouartourri had made such a statement. The lawyer, Mr Louis Kutner, an expert in international law, has been acting as general counsel for Mr Tshombe's wife, Ruth. Mr Tshombe was kidnapped last June aboard a chartered plane and taken to Algeria. His extradition to the Congo was demanded by the Congolese President, Mr Joseph Mohutu, and subsequently the Algerian Supreme Court announced the former Congolese Prime Minister would be extradited, Mr Tshombe, however, was kept in gaol in Algeria and the extradition has not been made.
