WORDS FROM THE CAPTAIN

Too much is made of failure in golf; more importance should be attached to success. This sentiment was expressed by R. E. Clements, captain of the Canterbury Freyberg Rose Bowl team, in replying to a toast to the team at the annual dinner of the Canterbury Provincial Golf Association. “The future of Canterbury golf is in good hands," Clements declared. "Donald Hope will tell you that the hardest game he has had this year was in the provincial under-21 tournament”
