SUBMISSIONS BY BUILDERS

Careful Study Promised <NZ. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 1. The submissions made to the Government by the Master Builders’ Federation would re-, ceive careful consideration, the Minister of Housing (Mr Rae) said today. House building had not been singled out for special restraint, Mr Rae said. All sections of business activity were affected by the Government’s policies of restraint, but the institution of the Building Programmer in 1965 could be construed . as directed at the construction industry. However, with the exception of two cases of luxury flats in Auckland, the Building Programmer’s decisions had applied to commercial building and not to housing, he said.

Waterfront Holiday.—The only work on the Lyttelton waterfront on Monday, Queen’s Birthday, will be the routine handling of mail and passengers’ cars and luggage when the Maori sails for Wellington in the evening.
