Cigarette Price Position Upsetting

the decimal currency equivalent of cigarettes and tobacco. Wholesalers will have little time in which to have price lists printed or to have invoices pre-printed. Canned Meats.—The packer of Sterling canned meats is now■ introducing three lines de-1 signed for the winter trade. The varieties Include canned tripe and onions, pork sausages and gravy, and curried mince with sultanas. They are packed tn ISoz cans with attractive labels and retail at a suggested price of 2s 9d. 3s 3d, and 3s 3d respectively. Australian Mixed Dried Fruit. —An Innovation has been introduced by Australian dried fruit packers and the Australian Dried Fruits Control Board is now offering to the New Zealand i trade a variety of mixed fruits which contains sultanas, curIrants and raisins. This mixed
fruit is packed in 281 b cartons and comprises 60 per cent sultanas, 30 per cent currant* and 10 per cent seeded raising. This will give retailers an opportunity of repacking their own mixed fruits if they desire. Imported Fruit Juice. A popular Trinidad fruit juice has been in .short supply on the ! Christchurch market, ftfr some time. This is a 50/50 Juice consisting of orange, and grapefruit juice which can be imported under import licensing. A shipment recently arrived in Christchurch is ready for distribution. but a slight increase in price arises because of higher sea freights. Honey Cake.—The baker of Reizenotein's honey cake hopes to be able to keep the market supplied. In the past few months it has had trouble in its rye flour in that the quality has been sub-standard. This has been overcome and in future there should be no delays In supplying all markets. However, because of higher costs of flour and other commodities. the price of the cake is expected to be up about Id.
