Three Wins In U.S.
Mr C. L. Rhodes, of Christchurch, has had three wins in America with his own horses in the last few days. On Tuesday night Mr Rhodes saw Option and Forward March win at Brandywine Raceway, while a few nights earlier Safe Return was successful at Roosevelt Raceway, New York. Option and Forward March travelled to America with Robin Dundee, Elegant Hanover and other Australian and New Zealand pacers, leaving Christchurch on April 18. Option paced his mile in 2min 7sec, while Forward March recorded 2min Bsec. Both races were worth $lBOO. Safe Return has been a big winner for Mr Rhodes. His race at Roosevelt Raceway carried a stake of $6OOO, Quality Inn, which travelled in the same aircraft, finished second in a race at Roosevelt Raceway earlier in the week.
