GIFT TO NATION
Virgin Kauri Bush Block (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 26. A Kaipara Flat farmer, Mr J. W. Thomson, has given a block of four acres and a half of virgin kauri bush to the nation as a scenic reserve. The reserve, which is open to the public, contains 25 kauris, measuring from three to six feet through. Worth about £lO,OOO, the reserve was part of a 386-acre sheep and cattle farm which was broken in by the donor’s father, Mr J. Thomson, who came to New Zealand in 1859.
