The Christchurch Golf Club gained the major honours In its annual match against rhe Otago Golf Club at Shirley during the week-end- The match was first played in 1893 and in .he intervening years the Hanmer Shield (foursomes), the Campbell Hosking Shield (singles) and the Friendly Shield (four-ball) have become keenly-sought trophies. This week-end Christchurch won the Friendly Shield, 6-2, and> the . Campbell-Hosking Shield, 6i-li. Otago gained some compensation by winning the Hanmer Shield by two holes.
