BRUSSELS FIRE
Cause Still Sought (N. Z.P.A. -Reuter—Copyright) BRUSSELS, May 26. Investigation into the cause of the sudden blaze which gutted the huge city L’lnnovation store in Brussels on Monday continued today as a solemn funeral service for victims took place in the medieval St. Michael’s Cathedral. The unofficial casualty roll listed 357 people dead or missing after the mysterious fire, Belgium’s biggest national disaster since 1956, when 262 miners died in a blazing mine. Belgian police yesterday carried out 30 searches in Brussels and the provinces, investigating the fire and a subsequent spate of anonymous arson and bomb threats to other stores and a radio and television station in the Capital. They also interrogated about 50 people, mostly from extreme Left-wing groups, including pro-Chinese Communists.
