Use Of Chapel Approved

The Presbytery of Christchurch has approved the use of the Arthur’s Pass chapel, previously restricted to those churches within the National Council of Churches, by the Roman Catholic Church. A letter from the Arthur’s Pass Chapel Committee said that a request to use the chapel had been received from the parish priest of Darfield. Both the clergy and lay members of the. chapel committee approved the request. “In my view if the chapel can be used for Roman Catholic services, it will be more truly an inter-demonin-ational place of worship,” Mr D. R. Fountain, the chapel committee secretary, said.
