The former AU Black triaUst, M. L. Dunne, has been appointed captain of the New South Wales Country Rugby team to tour New Zealand.
The 25 players leave Sydney on June 7 for 13 matches in New Zealand. Dunne, a forward, played a notable part in New South Wales’ defeat of the Irish touring team last Saturday. An engineer working in the Snowy Mountains, Dunne also played for the New South Wales Country team which was beaten by Ireland on Tuesday. Before he went to Australia, Dunne played more than 80 representative matches in New Zealand and represented four provinces—North Otago, Marlborough, Wellington and Canterbury. In 1965 he played against
the Springboks for Canterbury and the New Zealand Universities, for the South Island against the North Island, and for The Rest against New Zealand. Unavailable for the tour were the Wallaby full-backs, J. Lenehan and P. Ryan, the injured forward, J. Miller, and the new test breakaway, H. Rose. The team is: Backs—L. Cockburn, T. Dunnicliffe, B.
