Political Parents

A son of the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) and the daughter of the chairman of the St. Albans electorate committee of the National Party will be married in Christchurch on Saturday afternoon. Miss Judith Anne Gough is the daughter of Mr and Mrs K. A. Gough, of St Albans, and Mr Robert Miller Kirk is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs N. E. Kirk. Mr Robert Kirk and Miss Gough have known each other since their school days at Linwood High School. Both are graduates of the University of Canterbury. Mr Kirk, who is 23, is completing a thesis for his M.Sc. degree. In the 1965-66 Antarc-

tic season Mr Kirk spent three months at Cape Royds, studying the geomorphology of the nearby sea beaches when not doing routine meteorological work. He held a bursary awarded by the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Antarctic Society.

Miss Gough, who Is 22, is a lecturer at Lincoln College. She was capped a bachelor of science last week.

The Kirks’ second son, John, is attending an apprentice printers* course in Auckland at present. He will be best man at the wedding.

After their wedding the couple will live in the Riccarton electorate.
