(N.Z. Press Assoclatlo > NEW PLYMOUTH, May 2. An arrangement for the sale of fireworks to be confined to a short period before and after Guy Finkes Day will be discussed with the Government by the e tecutive of the Urban Fire authorities Association. A remit to this effec was carried unanimously at today’s annual meeting of the association at New Plymouth. It was introduced by the Porirua Fire Board. “For the last two years, fireworks have been on sale in this district ’ for at least eight weeks before Guy Fawkes Day,” .said Mr J. Kemp, of Porirui. “It is understood that an act in the United Kingdom gives control 1 uniting the sales to persons over 12 and to a period of 14j days before November 5. “If there is no (control over the sale of fireworks, all efforts by brigai es are virtually wasted for two months in each year,” he said. Inaugural Fligh .—Mr J. R. Waters, a director of a Christchurch travel ajency, will travel on the Inau ;ural South African Airways Sight from Sydney to Johan lesburg by way of Perth am Mauritius on May 5. The flight will take 10 hours. Tl ere will be no direct link with Christchurch, as the >lane will leave Sydney at 8.10 a.m.
