Steady Increase In Reserves (N.Z. P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, May 2. Britain’s reserves of gold and dollars increased by £s2m during the last month, the Bank of England announced today. The new total of £1216m is the highest since August and reflects the increased stability of sterling, now stabilised at close to its highest level for more than 18 months. The gain announced today was the biggest monthly increase this year. Apart from an increase of £6sm in December, partly due to end of the year settlement, the monthly balance has risen every month since September, showing a total net gain of £9om in eight months.
