Homeless In Greece

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) JANNINA (Greece), May 3. At least 18,000 villagers in the mountainous area of Tzoumerka, in north-west Greece, were homeless yesterday after Monday’s strong earth tremor, a spokesman for the Ministry of Public Order said. Nine people were killed and 52 others injured in 40 villages perched on the slopes of the 5900 feet high Tzoumerka range, the spokesman said. Most of the villagers died or were hurt in churches where they had gathered to celebrate the Greek Orthodox Easter Monday.
