Poor Return Of Gold

(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, May 3. Kaniere Gold Dredging, Ltd., which has applied for a rise in the price of fine gold by £3 per oz to £lB 10s, recovered only 493 oz last month. This figure is considered poor, as previous monthly returns have been as high as 1000 oz. The dredge worked for 496 hours. The secretary of the company (Mr F. K Buckley) had no comment to make on the company’s application for an increase in price or on its problems. The matter was still under Cabinet consideration, he said. The dredge is understood to be working through an area of low yield, and it may be some time before a richer field is reached,
