MARSDEN STATION

First Power In June (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 13. Barring unexpected holdups, the Marsden power station would be available for its first commercial load about the end of June, and would provide power for the coming winter, said the Minister of Electricity (Mr Shand), today. The first boiler had been pressure tested and fired, and the first 120,000k.w. generator was expected to be on test by the end of this month. “This is a splendid achievement the result of a fine team effort by New Zealand workers, Government departments, consultants, manufacturers and New Zealand contractors,” said Mr Shand.
