Repelled By Stick

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, Mar. 28. The British Army has apologised to the tiny Northumberland town of Lambley after a mock invasion which terrified everyone but the constable. At 3.30 a.m. about 25 trainees on an invasion exercise stormed into town, shouting and firing rifles. Townspeople bolted doors and windows and called the police.

The lone local constable grabbed his stick and raced out after the howling soldiers and chased them five miles back to camp.
