Appeal Lodged

(N.Z. Pres* Association) RIVERTON. An appeal has been lodged by Mr N. L. White, of Winton, the owner-trainer of Red Sash, against the decision of the Riverton judicial committee in relegating Red Sash from first to second in the Aparima Handicap on Saturday. Red Sash won the Aparima Handicap by a nose from Loch Nagar. but an objection was lodged by the stipendiary steward against Red Sash running out over the final furlong and causing Loch Nagar to shift ground. This was upheld by the judicial committee. A film of the incident was also viewed before the committee reached its decision. The appeal will be heard by the Southland district committee. An appeal has been lodged on behalf of the apprentice jockey, A. S. Borthwick, the rider of Red Sash, who was fined £l5 for failing to keep his mount straight.
