BALLOON DOWN

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 28. The remains of a hydro-gen-filled balloon, released by vandals at the Easter Show on Monday night, were found shortly after noon today at Hillsborough, an Auckland suburb. The 14ft diameter balloon had been considered a danger and a warning had been issued to aircraft.

A spokesman for the Civil Aviation Department said there was a risk that the balloon could be sucked into the engine of an aircraft. The balloon, which had been attached to 100 ft of line, was made of red and white plastic and used for advertising. It was valued at £125. Today police interviewed three youths in connexion with the incident.
