TRANSFER SOUGHT
Clearance For Smith A senior Rugby League player was granted a clearance last evening to play for another club subject to his new club providing proof that he did not play for his old club last season. A meeting of the Canterbury Rugby League received an application for J Smith to play for the Christchurch club. The letter from Christchurch said that Smith had not played football last season but had played for Kaiapoi two years ago. The ex-Kiwis association was granted permission to arrange a match against a Canterbury XIII on Anzac Day. The venue has yet to be decided. The following sub-committees and appointments were made for the coming season: Deputy chairman, Mr L. R Huston; grounds committee. Messrs J. Anderson and D. Shearer; postponement commit tec. Messrs D. Gaynor and D C. ■ Wilson; emergency committee. Messrs Wilson, P. Yaxley. Huston and D. G. Gaynor; match committee. Messrs Wilson and Yaxley; publicity commit tee. Messrs W. Whitehead and J. Machirus; registrars. Messrs Huston and Gaynor; custodian. Mr D. Murdoch. The following nominations for appointments to teams for the match against the Queensland team and the A and B trial match In May wHI be for warded to the New Zealand Council: — Managers: Southern Zone. Mr Wileon: A team, Mr Shearer: B team. Mr J. Moyes (Wellington). Coaches: Southern Zone, Mr E. Butts: A team. Mr C. Pas kell; B team, Mr H. Walker.
