Townsend Back
R. B. Townsend, the tall, red-haired golfer who has served Avondale well in several seasons of Woodward Cup play, arrived back in Christchurch last weekend from an overseas trip. Townsend spent most of his time near London; finding himself in the midst of mounting unemployment he was glad to gain a position on the maintenance staff of a golf club. Although his opportunities I for playing golf were limit-1 ed, Townsend had about 11' games in England. His best] effort was a 73 on the pari 69, 6700 yd Sunningdale course. I
