AUCKLAND, Feb. 24.

The consolidated net profit of Beriei Industries, Ltd., Auckland foundation garment, lingerie and knitwear manufacturer, dropped £9734—0r 15.3 per cent—to £53,973 in the year to December 19, directors announced in a preliminary statement today. The dividend was held at 10 per cent, requiring £41,000. In 1965, profit increased 5.5 per cent. The earning rate on capital was down from 15.5 to 13.2 per cent. The final dividend of 5 per cent will be payable on March 30; ex March 20.

Last year the chairman (Mr R. King) said that although further progress was expected, the cost of raw materials from local sources had risen, while labour costs were rising because of the effects of award increases.
