GREYMOUTH, Feb. 24. Waipa State Mill eclipsed the performance of Te Awamutu yesterday by winning two of the three events in the second day of the 1967 United Fire Brigades’ Association of New Zealand competitions being held in Greymouth. Conditions for the championships Improved considerably this afternoon and skies were again clear. Waipa won the hose and standpipe with breeching, as well as the featherweight pump with disabled feeder event. Te Awamutu won the third event, Its third In the year’s championships. This was the featherweight pump with extension event.

Leader Injured Waipa State Mill had early difficulties when a team leader, B. R. McCredle, was Injured, and a Conical Hill member, A. Peterson was called in as substitute. This did not, however, slow down the Waipa team. The three other members are brothers, William, Maurice and Albert Solomon. The first local team to gain a place was Hokitika, which was second to Waipa in the hose and standpipe event. 1 Palmerston North performed
