Tribute To Councillor
Mr L. M. Thompson, who died on Sunday, had done about as much for the district as Sir Eruera Tirikatene, the Mayor of Kaiapoi (Mr H. O. Hills) told the borough council on Monday night. Mr Thompson had served on the borough council for six years, had been a former chairman of the finance committee and had taken leading roles in the activities of many local organisations, the Mayor said. “Both men had done their duty well,” he said. The council stood in silence as a mark of respect for the two men.
