NEW HIGH SCHOOL

Survey At Kaiapoi

A new high school may be built at Kaiapoi if the findings of a survey now being conducted by the Department of Education indicate the need for it.

The chairman of the town planning committee (Cr. R. Wylie) told the Kaiapoi Borough Council that the Minister of Education (Mr Kinsella) had disclosed that the survey was now under way. I Cr. Wylie said the Minister would be back in Kaiapoi in [March and might be able then to set a date for a start on I the high school if it was needed. .

Cr. Wylie said there was considerable feeling in the district about having no high school. Most of the children of secondary age in Kaiapoi had to travel eight miles to Rangiora to school.
