Three Found In Bush

(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Jan. 5. A diabetic and his two young sons, missing in bush country in the Urewera National Park area since Monday, were found late yesterday by deer cullers. They are Eric Stringfellow, aged 39, of Whakatane, and his sons, Colin and Mark, aged 12 and 10.

They set out Saturday morning on a tramp from Waimana to Maunengapohatu, and were due out of the bush on Monday afternoon.

The Rotorua police were notified just before midnight last night that deer cullers had found the three fit and well, and had taken them to a hut. Earlier it was feared that Mr Stringfellow had run short of insulin, self-injected to combat his diabetes.

Supplies of insulin and lump sugar to be used if he

was in a diabetic coma were rushed to the police for issue to search parties. Late last night, before it was known that the three had been found, a full-scale search and rescue party was being arranged. Earlier, a fast-tramping party of five men was sent in from Whakatane to check the track and huts.

These men were reported to have spent the night with the missing trio and the deer cullers, and were expected to return from the bush today.
