Woman Returns Home To Find Burglar
A young New Brighton woman returned to her home from a shopping expedition yesterday afternoon and disturbed a burglar in her home in Marine parade. The young woman, who was
carrying her baby, was not harmed. She had been away from her home for about 30 minutes and noticed a strange car in her drive when she returned. She entered the house and disturbed a man who in his haste to leave dropped several cameras. The burglar rushed from the house and disappeared over a back fence.
The police, including detectives and dogs, were rushed to the scene but the man was not found.
Three shotguns, ammunition and a radio of a total value of £379 were taken from the premises of Hutchinson White, Ltd., Armagh street, between 5.30 p.m. and 11.30 p.m. on Wednesday. It is thought that the thief hid himself on the premises and removed the property after the staff had left. Money amounting to £5 was taken from the State Fire Insurance office, Worcester street, between December 30 and yesterday. A thief yesterday afternoon removed £6 from a taxi in the city area.
Property valued at £2O was taken after a home in Armagh street was entered between November 30 and December 1.
