Divorce Suit Continues
The hearing of a contested petition for divorce, brought by William Richard Airey, a foreman carpenter (Mr S. G. Erber), against his wife, Nettie Alice Airey, a cashier (Mr B. J. Drake), continued before Mr Justice Wilson in the Supreme Court yesterday, and will enter its third day today.
Airey seeks divorce on the ground of adultery, which he alleges occurred between his wife and Terrence John Palmer, a theatre projectionist (Mr R. G. Blunt), at a house in Packe street, St. Albans, used by the latter as a headquarters for an electronics business, and in part of which Mrs Airey sub-rented living quarters. Both Mrs Airey, whose evidence occupied almost all yesterday’s hearing, and Palmer deny the allegation of adultery.
Evidence in support of their denial was given by Mrs Airey’s daughter, Jennifer Alice Airey, a shorthand typist, and by Shirley William Cunningham, an investigator, who gave evidence about the Packe street property, in relation to observations which Airey claimed to have made there.
