The Auckland Football Association has negotiated a £lO5O sponsorship of Northern League soccer competition, one of the three regional leagues to be the forerunner of a national competition. The sponsor is Innes Tartan, Ltd., and under the agreement reached the money will be divided between the four divisions comprising the league. It will be available for a two-year period, stalling next season. It is hoped to start the national league in 1969.

The largest prize money will go to the premier division, with a first prize of £3OO and a second prize of £2OO. There will be a first prize of £125 for the winner of the second division.

The company will also assist the association to bring overseas touring teams to Auckland.
