‘Oddball’ Hats
When the milliner, Edward Mann, presented his “oddball” collection of spring '67 hats in London recently he officially announced his choice of the "best hatted women for 1966.” They were celebrities who have helped to promote hat-wearing during the year.
They included Princess Margaret Fenella Fielding, the model Twiggy and the actress Barbara Murray, who appeared as Patrick Wymark’s wife in the first series of “The Planemakers.”
Mr Mann said: “To me, the word oddball means an original kind of person and I think the women I have selected are just that They have a sense of humour in their attitude to fashion which has helped to promote a new kind of hat wearing.”
The oddball collection includes stetsons, cordobas, caps, berets, scarf-hats with tiny peaks, floppy-brimmed cloches, helmets and bowlers —all in a range of bright colour combinations. There was also a sprinkling of rainhats In lacquered nylon and P.V.C.
