(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Nov. 1. The Loder Cup for 1»M has been awarded to a Lyttelton resident, Mr Oliver Hunter, who Is 84, for hi* life-long interest in forest conservation. The award is made annually by the Minister of Agriculture to encourage the protection and cultivation of New Zealand flora. The Minister (Mr Taiboys) said today that for 72 years, Mr Hunter had propounded the virtues of forest preservation. This year, he had delivered the Sanderson memorial lecture to mem-

ben of the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society. Mr Hunter had taken every opportunity to share hi* knowledge and spread hl* enthusiasm amongst children and st Arbor Day ceremonies down the yean he had given hundreds of young tree* for planting in school ground*. “It give* me much pleasure to make this award to Mr Hunter, who has, by hi* enthusiasm and diligent '•torts over a very long life, led the way for many New Zealand dtliens in forest conservation,” said Mr Talboy*.
