FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A small anti-cyclone centred to the west of the North Island is moving eastwards and extends over most of New Zealand. A cold front in the Tasman Sea is expected to reach the south-west of the South Island later today. Forecast: Canterbury.—Light to moderate winds, northerlies predominating; cloudy and mild. Marlborough and Nelson.—North to northwest winds, fresh to strong in exposed places about Cook Strait; mainly moderate elsewhere; partly cloudy; mild. Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate northerly winds; cloudy with some light rain in South Westland this afternoon; moderate temperatures. Outlook.—Rain at times in Buller and Westland and in the Alps; partly cloudy elsewhere. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
