GRAFTED HAND

Condition Worsens The condition of the hand grafted on to a boy’s arm at the Christchurch Hospital on Saturday had deteriorated markedly, the orthopaedic surgeon who performed the operation said last evening. The hand had been severed in a farm mower. “The hand is still liv•ng, but prospects are not good.” the surgeon said. A further operation had been done yesterday morning.

The condition of the boy, Richard Lentjes, aged eight, son of Mr and Mrs A. J. Lentjes, of Brookside, last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
