SURGICAL SEMINAR
Doctors Weary (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 30. Thoroughly satiated with medical and surgical lectures and many visits to hospitals in countries of the Pacific, a large group of doctors arrived in Auckland during the week-end to attend the last stage of the Pan-Pacific [surgical seminar. The initial attendance at the mobile seminar, which began in Honolulu in September, was about 1500. But the numbers gradually tapered off as the seminar was continued in Japan, Hong Kong, Bangkok, New Delhi, Singapore and Sydney, until the overseas contingent reaching Auckland was about 60. The remainder are determined to obtain the utmost from tomorrow’s lectures at the medical centre, Auckland Hospital, and from visits to the main hospitals on Tuesday. Wearily, some of the doctors tonight calculated that nearly 1000 papers on various specialised fields had been presented during the seminar. But they hastily added they had not attended every one, merely those relevant to their special interests.
