Pile-driving Next Month

DUNEDIN, October 11

Piling of building foundations at the mill site of New Zealand Steel, Ltd., at Glenbrook, 40 miles from Auckland. would begin next month, said the mining and development manager of the company (Mr J. W. Ridley) today. The contract for the piling had been awarded to J. H. Williamson, Ltd., of Auckland.

Mr Ridley was in Dunedin today with the chairman of the company (Sir Woolf Fisher) and other representatives of the company for talks with the Dunedin Stock Exchange about the company’s forthcoming public share issue.

He said that about 1500 prestressed pre-cast concrete piles would be required at Glenbrook. They would be driven down to basalt at the average depth of about 30ft
